We began tonight’s Providence Gallery Night on the East Side at the Henry Lippitt House for the outdoor installation “Stories Untold” by Aaron Pexa.
We continued downtown and discovered Stella Zhong, a RISD BFA Grad, and her thesis exhibition, “Unnamable”. I was particularly intrigued by her use of this empty store front and the constructs she built inside.
Moving towards our main reason for going downtown and facing the usual parking dilemmas, we went to support Maggie Siegel who has her paintings on display at the BankRI gallery space.
We continued on to the West Side of Providence and the Drawing Room located on Washington Street. It was a beautiful space covered wall to wall in collaborative drawings between local artists and artists from the RHD-RI.
Our last stop of the night was the grand opening reception of the newly opened Gallery EOSS in Olneyville. We caught the tail end of the reception and enjoyed the work of Bob Dilworth, Susan Bennett, and Ian Mohon.
Each one of these spaces was new to me tonight, even though I know Maggie and Bob’s works. Glad to be discovering what else is around town.
